Alabama Lands 4 Star LB, Adding to Stacked 2028 Class

Another 2028 commitment for the Crimson Tide, this time on the defensive side of the ball. Reported by Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Sunday, 4-Star linebacker Tysir Young committed to Alabama.

Of all the other schools in contention to land Young, Georgia was the only other SEC school left in the race. On Rivals, Young ranks 109th nationally, 7th at his position, and is the No. 1 player in Delaware.

This commitment brings Alabama’s total to seven for the class of 2028. An extremely strong start to what’s looking to be a loaded class.

Young joins the likes of QB Kingston Preyear and OL Anthony Blalock Jr as four-star recruits to join the Crimson Tide. Arguably, the three most important positions in football are now addressed for Bama’s future.

What Tysir Young Brings to Alabama

Middletown’s Tysir Young (9) and Jacobi Rodgers celebrate a sack for a safety by Young, Oct. 24, 2025.

An uber-high motor off the edge. Young bullies offensive linemen with his 6’2, 215-pound frame. There isn’t a wide array of moves in his bag as of right now, but he has great bend on the outside as he rushes towards opposing QBs.

It’s clear that Young is a power rusher rather than a finesse rusher, which works just as well. Being just a rising junior in high school right now, Young will grow into his frame well and become a problem in the SEC.
