More talent heads to the SEC, as the Crimson Tide land their quarterback of the future, a 2028 commit whose home state is now also where he’ll play college football.
2028 4-Star QB Kingston Preyear committed to Alabama yesterday, and when speaking with Rivals, he explained that it was his dream and that “playing for Alabama is every kid’s dream”.
The homegrown commit is the #56 player nationally, the #4 player at his position, and the #5 player in the state. Preyear can be the ideal next passer after current QB Keelon Russell finishes his tenure with the Crimson Tide.
Preyear chose Alabama over other SEC schools; the two other schools that were in contention for Preyear were Florida and Vanderbilt. As far as visits go, he took many, visiting other schools like Auburn and Notre Dame along with the top three.

Preyear can do it all; he has great instincts as a ball carrier and likes to push the ball downfield and take shots. In his sophomore highlight tape, Preyear showed excellent pocket awareness, knowing when to scramble out of the pocket and either rush downfield himself or find a receiver downfield.
There’s plenty to like, and Preyear is still just entering his junior year of high school, so he’ll certainly grow and build into his frame. Preyear is currently 6’2 and 190 pounds; by 2028, he could be well above both those numbers.
