The nation’s No. 1 player, 5-star Alabama commit Najee Harris was on Auburn’s campus Sunday afternoon for an unofficial visit, but Tide fans should not worry about this trip.
He was in the area, making it easy to visit
It’s one thing if the California star decided to travel cross country to visit Auburn on his own dime, but that’s not the case. Harris was in Atlanta this weekend for a camp, which made the short car ride to Auburn an easy one. Ever since he committed to Alabama in April 2015, he’s made it clear that he still wants to visit other schools, and he’s done that. Harris has now visited Auburn, Southern California, UCLA, Washington and Ohio State, in addition to Alabama since committing. Nowadays, even when recruits commit to a school, they continue taking visits elsewhere.
Visited Alabama last week
There would be cause for concern if Harris was in the Southeast and only visited Auburn, but he didn’t. Harris visited Alabama last week for one of the team’s summer camps and stayed for multiple days. He got to interact with Crimson Tide commits and work out alongside them. The U.S. Army All-American told the Alabama staff that he will return to campus in July.
Remains 100 percent committed
Sometimes when commits talk with the media, they say they aren’t 100 percent committed to their school. That’s not the case with Harris. Every time he’s talked with the media, he maintains that his commitment to Alabama remains 100 percent. When he was on campus last week for camp, he once again told the staff that he remains solid with the Tide.
So, to recap, this trip to Auburn was nothing more than a car ride to a school he hasn’t seen before. If he ends up signing and playing for a school in the South, the only choice for him would be Alabama.
