Alex Leatherwood has been committed to Alabama since June 2015, but a final decision for where he’ll play college football is coming in two months.
Leatherwood, a 5-star offensive tackle from Booker T. Washington High School (Pensacola, Fla.), told ESPN Pensacola that he’ll be signing his papers to his school of choice on Dec. 16.
The nation’s No. 5 overall player will visit Georgia this weekend, which desperately needs offensive tackles in the Class of 2017, so the Bulldogs will try to change his mind on Saturday.
In the end, I still don’t think Leatherwood is going to flip his commitment. He is one of Alabama’s top recruiters and has been instrumental in getting top recruits to choose the Tide.
“I’m exploring these opportunities I have more because it’s a four-year decision that I need to be 100 percent sure of,” Leatherwood told SEC Country on Tuesday.
The Under Armour All-American will return to Tuscaloosa for Alabama’s game against Texas A&M. At this time, Florida and Michigan are the biggest contenders to change his mind on his commitment to Alabama.
He will be an early enrollee at the school of his choice.
