Texas is coming off a giant win over Notre Dame, and the Longhorns are hoping that momentum carries over into their recruiting efforts.
Alex Leatherwood, a 5-star Alabama offensive tackle commit from Booker T. Washington High School (Pensacola, Fla.), received an offer from the Longhorns on Thursday. Surprisingly, it’s only the nation’s No. 5 overall recruit’s 15th offer. That could be attributed to him committing to Alabama very early in his recruitment last year.
What’s interesting about the Texas offer though is his mother does live in the state, so don’t be surprised if a visit is made to Austin at some point before National Signing Day. At this time, Leatherwood will take an official visit to Alabama for the Iron Bowl and Michigan on Oct. 1. Southern California, Florida and LSU are in line to receive his final official visits but no dates have been set just yet.
