Alabama missed on several wide receiver targets in this year’s recruiting class, but the Crimson Tide went out and landed a graduate transfer at the position.
Gehrig Dieter, a redshirt senior from Bowling Green, announced on Twitter that he will transfer to Alabama. Dieter will join T.J. Simmons and Trevon Diggs as new wide receivers for the upcoming season.
As a redshirt junior at Bowling Green, Dieter racked up 1,033 yards, 10 touchdowns and 94 receptions in the Mid-American Conference. Arguably his best game last year came against an SEC opponent. Dieter had seven receptions, 133 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee in the season opener.
If Dieter ends up succeeding at Alabama, it wouldn’t be the first time a graduate transfer produced for the Crimson Tide. Just last year, Richard Mullaney, who transferred from Oregon State, had 38 receptions, 390 yards and five touchdowns en route to helping Alabama win another national championship.
Dieter will visit Alabama next weekend.
