TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Less than 30 minutes after its first national letter of intent came through, Alabama basketball received its second NLI on the early signing period on Wednesday.
The Crimson Tide officially signed Alex Reese, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward out of Pelham, Ala. He joined Herb Jones as Alabama’s two signees of the day thus far.

Reese committed to Alabama over UAB in October.
Reese earned all-state honors last year after averaging 25.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and one block for Pellham High School.
Reese is ranked as the nation’s No. 86 overall prospect and the No. 3 prospect in the state, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
Galin Smith, a 3-star center out of Mississippi, is expected to sign with Alabama as well.
Outside of Reese, Jones and Smith, Alabama is in the running for two highly-touted 5-star players.
Collin Sexton, a point guard from Pebblebrook (Ga.) High School), and John Petty (Huntsville, Ala.) have Alabama on their list of finalists.
Sexton is scheduled to announce his decision at 6 p.m. ET as a part of ESPNU’s basketball signing special.
Petty, a 6-foot-5 wingman, will also announce his decision on Thursday as well. Petty is the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama.
