Charlie Weis Jr. was supposed to work for Lane Kiffin next season, but will instead coach under a different ex-Alabama offensive coordinator.
The Atlanta Falcons announced on Friday that the former Alabama offensive analyst will work as an offensive assistant under Steve Sarkisian in 2017-18.
Kiffin originally hired Weis Jr. to be his new tight ends coach at FAU in December.
Sarkisian, who was promoted to offensive coordinator and then accepted a job with the Falcons, also worked as an offensive analyst alongside Weis Jr. last season.
Weis Jr. spent the last two seasons under that role in Tuscaloosa after serving as a summer volunteer intern for the New England Patriots in 2014. He’s also spent time as a manager at Kansas (2012-14) and an offensive quality control assistant coach at Florida (2011).
He is the son of former Notre Dame and Kansas head coach Charlie Weis.
