Derrick Henry found inspiration from a familiar source: Alabama football.
On Sunday, the former Crimson Tide running back ran for 109 yards on 11 carries with 1 touchdown in the Tennessee Titans’ 24-13 victory against the Houston Texans. Turns out, Alabama’s inclusion in the College Football Playoff lifted Henry to a big day.
Check out what Henry said about his performance, as relayed by TitansOnline’s Jim Wyatt.
“After that [loss] to Auburn, everybody was all on me, because I am always bragging about ‘Bama,” Henry said with a smile. “When I heard we got in, that’s all I needed to get ready for the game. When [Alabama] got in, I was like, ‘Yes sir, let’s go.’ That was a spark. I was fired up. Roll Tide, baby.”
Alabama fans will love that comment.
Everyone with a soft spot for the Crimson Tide has to be feeling good right now. After a heated debate, Alabama earned the fourth spot in the College Football Playoff, edging out Big Ten champion Ohio State.
The Crimson Tide have a tall task against defending national champion Clemson in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1. But you can bet Henry will feel inspired again if Alabama can top the Tigers in New Orleans.
