Alabama commits and targets react after Tide dominates UGA
Saturday’s contest between Alabama and Georgia was not devoid of recruiting star power, as several of the country’s top-rated prospects were in attendance for the SEC showdown while others caught the game from home.
After the game, the AJC’s SECCountry.com caught up with a few Alabama targets for their reaction on the program’s convincing 38-10 win.
William Poole, CB, Hapeville Charter High School, Ga. (Undecided): “I thought Georgia would have pulled this off. But actually being at the game, I saw Alabama had the game won before kickoff. They came out extremely fired up and determined to silence the doubters who said they weren’t a contending team. They definitely proved themselves tonight. Oh, that secondary is extremely talented. Two interceptions and a blocked punt scoop-and-score all by three defensive backs. Wow.”
Leonard Warner, LB, Brookwood High School, Ga. (Undecided): “Alabama played a great game. They capitalized on every mistake that Georgia made, including the blocked punt and the interception that both went for touchdowns. Once they had Georgia on its heels, they kept the pressure on and piled on points until it was out of hand.”
Ben Davis, LB, Gordo High School, Ala. (Undecided): “I think Alabama executed great today. The defense played lights out. (Alabama quarterback) Jake Coker was ready to play.”
Deangelo Gibbs, DB, Peachtree Ridge High School, Ga. (Undecided): “They executed and you could tell they had some fire behind them after that Ole Miss loss.
Xavier McKinney, S, Roswell High School, Ga. (Alabama): “It was a great win. I like how they bounced back from the loss two weeks ago. They played great on both sides of the ball and they got after it.”
Nigel Warrior, DB, Peachtree Ridge High School, Ga. (Undecided): “Alabama simply came out and defeated them from the beginning to the end. Georgia came out strong in the beginning, but Alabama came even harder. I love how they came back after a loss and played their butts off. Everyone did their jobs and they came out with a victory.”
Trey Sermon, RB, Sprayberry High School, Ga. (Undecided): “Alabama has really stepped up since their loss to Ole Miss. They made the plays they needed to win the game. I was pretty impressed. I thought it was going to be closer.”
Malcolm Askew, ATH, McAdory High School, Ala. (Undecided): “It was a good win. Alabama just executed more than Georgia. It wasn’t a matter of better talent or anything. Alabama did the things they were supposed to do to win the ball game. Period. That’s why they got the win.”
