One of Alabama’s best defensive backs will likely not be in action against Charleston Southern on Saturday.
Freshman corner Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) has still not been able to practice after leaving the Mississippi State game last weekend.
“He’s day-to-day and probably won’t get enough reps this week to play in this game,” coach Nick Saban said Wednesday morning. “We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to get him back after this week. When you’re day-to-day, you gotta see how he responds, and that’s not something we can predict right now.”
Fitzpatrick broke out with a blocked punt and touchdown against Georgia on Oct. 3, and then returned two interceptions for touchdowns against Texas A&M two weeks later.
Tony Brown and Maurice Smith are competing to take Fitzpatrick’s reps at the “star” cornerback position.
