Alabama defensive back Shawn Burgess-Becker will transfer from the university, according to a report from 247Sports’ Ryan Bartow.
The rising sophomore played in 13 games last season, collecting three tackles. He saw most of his playing time on special teams in 2015.
Burgess-Becker was a four-star recruit out of Monarch High School (Pompano Beach, Fla.), and was the nation’s No. 10 athlete in last year’s class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Bartow reports that Burgess-Becker has received a full release and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
The Crimson Tide return a bevy of talent in the defensive backfield in 2016, including senior Eddie Jackson, sophomore Ronnie Harrison, sophomore Minkah Fitzpatrick and redshirt sophomore Marlon Humphrey. The quartet combined for 13 interceptions last season.
