TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Make that three weekly awards for Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen.
Allen was named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week by the FWAA for his performance in Alabama’s 33-14 win over Texas A&M on Saturday.
Allen finished the game with 1 sack and a career-high 4 quarterback hurries. He had 6 total tackles, including 3 solo stops. Allen added his second defensive touchdown of the season after he picked up an Aggie fumble and returned it 30 yards for a score late in the third quarter.

His play helped limit the Aggies’ top-ranked rushing attack to just 114 yards and the entire offense to only 278 yards and 14 points.
Allen has a team-high 10 quarterback hurries while ranking second in sacks with 6.0 this season. He has also added 6.5 tackles for a loss as part of his 35 total tackles. Allen leads the defense with 2 touchdown scores, both fumble recoveries, and has 2 pass breakups.
The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the 2016 Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Thurs., Nov. 17.
