A’Shawn Robinson will be joining Derrick Henry and their senior Alabama teammates in the 2016 NFL Draft class.
While Henry’s plans leaked earlier this week, Robinson officially announced his intentions to the media on Friday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.
“I’d like to thank coach (Nick) Saban and (defensive line) coach Bo (Davis) for pushing me and making me the man I am today” Robinson said. “Outside of football. It’s more so about things you want to do in life outside of football, and coach Saban and coach Bo have really helped me to become a better man.”
The 6-foot-4, 312-pound defensive lineman made 46 tackles while bringing down the quarterback 3.5 times this year. ESPN analyst Mel Kiper, Jr., projected Robinson as a mid-first-round pick in his mock draft this week.
“A’Shawn Robinson is a guy that’s an ideal player for today’s NFL,” Kiper said. “He showed this year he can get after the quarterback. He was the stopping the run on the way to the quarterback.”
