Alabama has already lost several juniors to the NFL ranks, but defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs will not be among them.
The former JUCO transfer announced Thursday that he will return to Tuscaloosa for his senior season. That’s tremendous news for the Crimson Tide, who need as much depth as possible along the defensive front.

“I want to thank you for allowing me to come here and be apart of this great program. I always dreamed of winning a national championship,” Buggs wrote. “With that being said I will return for my senior year to graduate and try to repeat this feeling of winning a national championship again.”
Buggs was a productive player for Alabama in 2017. He recorded 51 tackles, 3 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Most of his damage came against the run, where he made 42 tackles before the national title game.
In the National Championship matchup against Georgia, Buggs made 5 total tackles and helped limit Georgia running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel to a combined 123 yards on 32 carries.
