Preparation for next Monday’s national title game against Clemson isn’t the only noteworthy news coming out of Alabama’s practice this afternoon. Class of 2017 5-star OT Alex Leatherwood, an early enrollee, was in pads for the Tide’s practice and going through drills with the team, as confirmed by SEC Country’s Marq Burnett:

Leatherwood was the no.6 player in the country for 2017, according to 247Sports, and the top player in Florida. Though he obviously will not be participating in the upcoming national championship game, he does have a valuable opportunity to get in some important reps with the team both now and throughout the semester, which theoretically will give him a better shot at early playing time in the fall.
