Former Alabama quarterback Blake Barnett announced Wednesday that he’ll transfer from Arizona State, and one Crimson Tide player sent a supportive message after news of the decision spread.
On Wednesday night, junior defensive back Keaton Anderson wrote on Twitter, “I support you my brother!!!” while quoting Barnett’s note about the transfer. Briefly, Barnett played for Alabama in 2016 before leaving the program after Jalen Hurts became the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback that year. Barnett has 259 yards passing with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception during his college career.

Barnett reportedly will visit South Florida this weekend as he tries to find another destination to continue his college career. The former highly touted prospect started the 2016 season for the Crimson Tide against USC before transferring following Hurts’ rise to the top quarterback position.
Barnett completed just 3 of 5 passes for 40 yards with 1 interception at Arizona State last season as the Sun Devils finished with a 7-6 record. Chances are, Barnett will be given a chance to start wherever he lands next.
But his ability to make the most of that opportunity remains unknown. Clearly, his college career has been a disappointment so far.
