New staff member added
Alabama announced it will hire Bob Welton as the new director of player personnel after Jody Wright left for an assistant coaching position at UAB earlier this month. Welton previously worked under former Tennessee coach Butch Jones, who is now an offensive analyst with the Crimson Tide.
“We are excited to add Bob Welton to our staff as the director of player personnel,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said in an official release on Tuesday. “Bob has a lot of experience in this role and a reputation for being very organized and an excellent talent evaluator. He has worked at all levels of football, serving as an NFL scout, a player personnel director at the college level and a head coach in high school. Bob is a great fit for this role, and we are happy to welcome his wife Laura and their children to the Crimson Tide program.”

No starting quarterback? No problem
Alabama is currently deciding who its starting quarterback will be for the fall. Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts will battle in the fall. Both proved last season they can lead Alabama to important wins. A group of ESPN writers discussed the competition. They said it won’t even matter who Alabama picks because it will be so good around the two players.
Ranking Nick Saban’s losses
Saban rarely loses multiple games in one year. In fact, he’s only lost more than two games in a season at Alabama twice. Every time it seems like the games end in dramatic fashion as well. Our own Marq Burnett ranked Saban’s losses at Alabama. It shows just how hard it is to beat a Saban-coached Alabama team.
