Alabama football: Home-and-home series with Texas slated for 2022 and 2023

Home-and-home series with Texas confirmed

After mostly scheduling neutral games with big opponents, Alabama is shifting gears. The Crimson Tide scheduled Notre Dame for a home-and-home series a decade from now. On Wednesday, Alabama added another home-and-home series. The Crimson Tide will play Texas in 2022 and 2023, with the first game taking place in Austin, Texas. It will be the first time since the BCS National Championship in 2009 that the two teams will meet.

Mike Slive passes

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive passed away on Wednesday at age 77. After his passing, coach Nick Saban and athletic director Greg Byrne released a statement.

“Commissioner Slive was truly one of the great leaders college athletics has ever seen and an even better person,” Saban said. “He was a wonderful friend to me and someone who I respected tremendously. Mike changed the landscape of the Southeastern Conference and helped build our league into what you see today. He was instrumental in growing college football and in the creation of the College Football Playoff. The professionalism he displayed throughout his career was second to none. He was an advocate for all of our universities and placed the utmost importance on the well-being of student-athletes. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family in this difficult time.”

Nick Saban discusses 2-quarterback system

Quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa are currently battling for the starting position. Because of their differing skill sets, there is a possibility of Alabama utilizing both players in its system. At a golf tournament, Saban discussed the possibility of playing both quarterbacks.
