Alabama football: Injury notes, pregame observations ahead of Colorado State matchup

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama football is set to host Colorado State inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Here are some pregame injury notes and other observations:

What we saw

  • Sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts, defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne and left guard Ross Pierschbacher are Alabama’s captains against Colorado State.
  • Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans (groin) is dressed but doesn’t appear to be taking any contact. It doesn’t look like he’s going to play. This will be the second game Evans has missed. There’s really no need to rush him back.
  • Linebackers Dylan Moses and Anfernee Jennings (ankle) are both in street clothes. Jennings was spotted with a boot on his right foot when Alabama entered the stadium. They’re out for the game.
  • Running back Josh Jacobs (hamstring) is warming up and looks fine. He took some reps with the second-team offense.
  • Lester Cotton is warming up at right guard with the first-team offensive line. He looks fine. Matt Womack is at right tackle.
  • Keith Holcombe, Shaun Dion Hamilton, Jamey Mosley and freshman Chris Allen are the linebackers with the first-team defense in base.
  • Levi Wallace will get his second career start at cornerback. Trevon Diggs worked at cornerback with the second-team defense.
