TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Lane Kiffin mentioned the possibility of this happening, and it seems to Kiffin is already adding Alabama football staff members to his coaching staff at Florida Atlantic.
Kiffin, 41, was introduced as Florida Atlantic’s head coach on Tuesday, and he has reportedly added a member of the Crimson Tide’s support staff to his coaching staff.
Kiffin tabbed Wilson Love to be his strength and conditioning coach at Florida Atlantic, according to OwlAccess.com.
“That is definitely a possibility,” Kiffin said of bringing Alabama staffers to Florida Atlantic. “Obviously we’ve got some great coaches at Alabama in roles where they can come here in enhanced roles. That’s definitely an option.”
Love currently serves as an assistant strength coach under Scott Cochran at Alabama.
Love replaces Chuck Lobe as the Owls strength coach. Love is a former defensive lineman at Alabama.
He is usually spotted on the sideline jumping up and down with Alabama’s “Ball Out” belt for when defensive players force turnovers.
Kiffin inherited a program that finished each of the last three season with a 3-9 mark.
After making $1.4 million in his last year at Alabama, Kiffin is slated to make $950,000 per year at Florida Atlantic. His buyout after one year is $2.5 million, but it goes down $500,000 each year over five years.
