TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama right guard Alphonse Taylor is still listed as day-to-day as the Crimson Tide opens LSU week.
Taylor is slowly working himself back from a concussion suffered against Arkansas on Oct. 8.
“He is going to practice some today,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said on Monday. “We’re kind of allowing him to do what he can, and we’ll sort of take it day to day. I can’t really answer that fully. We’ve been off for three days, and we’re going to see how he does today.”
Taylor was spotted at practice during the media viewing periods during Alabama’s bye week last week, but did not participate in any of the drills.
Taylor, a senior, dressed for the game vs. Texas A&M on Oct. 22, but did not play. Taylor didn’t appear to be doing much during warmups either.
Taylor did not travel with the team to Tennessee on Oct. 15.
Sophomore Lester Cotton replaced Taylor at right guard, and has now started 4 games on the year.
No. 1 Alabama (8-0, 5-0 SEC) travels to Baton Rouge, La., on Saturday for an SEC West clash against No. 15 LSU (5-2, 3-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
