Editor’s note: Alabama football returns a ton of talent, and has a great opportunity to make another run at the SEC championship and earn a College Football Playoff berth.
Over the next few weeks, SEC Country will take a look at Alabama’s 25 most important players. Obviously, there’ll be coaches and other key members around the program who’ll have a big impact on the team’s success. But this list is strictly for the top 25 players for the Crimson Tide heading into 2017.
No. 18 Ross Pierschbacher
After redshirting his first year, Pierschbacher has been a two-year starter on the offensive line for Alabama football.
Pierschbacher is back and locked in at left guard heading into his fourth season in Tuscaloosa.
Pierschbacher is a veteran offensive lineman that Alabama football can count on to always know his assignments.
He’s joined by Jonah Williams on the left side after Williams made the move from right to left tackle this spring. Pierschbacher, Williams and center Bradley Bozeman appear to be set in their spots. Lester Cotton remains the favorite to win the right guard spot. Matt Womack finished the spring atop the depth chart at right tackle.
“It feels good. I feel like I’m improving in footwork and stuff like that in comfortability,” Pierschbacher said this spring. “Just being around the guys Jonah and Bozeman and getting more comfortable with them. Not having to switch positions the week before a game so that’s nice.”
Coming Thursday: A young player switching positions.
