Alabama football received 49 of the 65 first-place votes. The Crimson Tide will open the season with Florida State, who checked at No. 3. The Seminoles received four first-place votes. Kickoff for that matchup is set for 8 p.m. ET on ABC from Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

No. 2 Ohio State received five first-place votes. Southern California was slotted at No. 4, but the Trojans did not receive any first-place votes.

Defending national champion Clemson was tabbed at No. 5 and received seven first-place votes.

Penn State, Washington, Oklahoma, Michigan and Wisconsin rounded out the top 10.

Along with Florida State, Alabama will face four teams currently in the top 25: No. 12 LSU, No. 13 Auburn and No. 24 Tennessee.

Alabama football is set to open fall camp on Thursday. Key returning offensive players include quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver Calvin Ridley, running back Bo Scarbrough and center Bradley Bozeman.

Alabama must replace a lot of talent and leadership on defense, but key returning players include defensive backs Minkah Fitzpatrick and Ronnie Harrison, defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne and linebackers Rashaan Evans and Shaun Dion Hamilton.
