TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts was named the SEC’s Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Crimson Tide’s 51-3 victory over Mississippi State.
Hurts became the first quarterback in Alabama history to throw for 300 yards (347) and rush for 100 yards (100) in the same game.
Hurts accounted for 447 yards of total offense, which is the third-best total in school history.
Hurts 5 total touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing) tied the Alabama record for touchdowns in a single game, tying Shaun Alexander, Santonio Beard and Gary Hollingsworth.
Hurts completed 28-of-37 passes (75.7 percent) for 347 yards passing 4 touchdowns, which is the second most passing scores in a game in school history.
Hurts ran for an average of 9.1 yards per carry. Hurts finished with a passer rating of 184.72 and averaged nearly a first down (9.3 yards per play) every time he touched the ball.
Hurts’ 27 total touchdowns (16 passing, 11 rushing) this season in 10 games rank fifth in single-season history at Alabama.
Hurts 735 rushing yards now ranks second among quarterbacks in school history.
