Tony Brown shines early

Former Alabama cornerback Tony Brown may not have been drafted, but he’s already turning heads. Brown, a 5-star recruit out of high school, went to the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent. So far, the Chargers are already impressed. Coach Anthony Lynn said Brown’s skill is “off the charts.” Brown and other rookies participated in rookie minicamp last week.

Justin Thomas earns No. 1 ranking

Former Alabama golfer Justin Thomas finished tied for 11th with veteran Tiger Woods at The Players Championship. His top 15 finish and a 17th-place performance by Dustin Johnson meant Thomas took over the world No. 1 ranking. Johnson spent 64 weeks at the top. Over the last 17 months, Thomas has 6 PGA Tour wins and a major title. He is the first former Alabama golfer to be world No. 1.

Softball team to host NCAA Regional

Alabama softball will host a regional for the 14th straight season after earning the No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Oregon State, Wisconsin and Middle Tennessee State will head to Tuscaloosa to compete with Alabama for a chance to move on in the tournament. The Crimson Tide have won every regional round since 2005, the longest active streak in the country.
