Alabama great Amari Cooper sets new Oakland Raiders record
It’s rare for any Oakland Raiders player to have a franchise “first,” but that’s what former Alabama great Amari Cooper did on Sunday.
Oakland has won four championships and watched 13 of its players become enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 55-plus seasons, but it had never seen a rookie receiver hit the 1,000-yard mark until Cooper.
The 2014 Heisman Trophy finalist now has 68 catches for 1,040 yards and six touchdowns after a huge day against the Green Bay Packers.
He finished his Alabama career with 228 receptions, 3,463 yards and 31 scores — all school records.
