HOOVER, Ala. — The University of Alabama football program had three players named to the watch list for one of the postseason honors it’s been dominating of late, the Outland Trophy.
Senior center Bradley Bozeman, junior defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne and sophomore tackle Jonah Williams were among 81 players up for best interior lineman honor
The watch list announced by the Football Writers Association of American on Thursday morning.
Former Alabama left tackle Cam Robinson won the Outland in 2016. Previous Crimson Tide winners were Chris Samules (1999), Andre Smith (2008) and Barrett Jones (2011).
Williams is making the switch from right tackle, where he was named a Freshman All-American last season, to left tackle.
“Jonah Williams might be the best offensive lineman in college football,” ESPN analyst Marcus Spears said.
The Outland watch list is offensive line heavy, with 24 offensive tackles, 21 defensive tackles, 20 centers and 16 guards, but the ACC led all conferences with 17 players, with the Big Ten and SEC having 11 each.
The semifinalists will be named on Nov. 15.
