Alabama injury update: Kenyan Drake gets good news
Alabama will likely have Kenyan Drake back for the postseason. The senior running back fractured his right arm while covering a kickoff against Mississippi State on Saturday, but he had a successful surgery and is projected to return in “a couple weeks,” according to coach Nick Saban.
Fans should expect to see more of running backs Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough in the meantime.
“Both guys are gonna have to play a role,” Saban said. “There’s no question about that.
“They’re young guys, so are they going to step up to the challenge and compete and show the maturity you need to get ready to play a game? And play it well? And do it on a consistent basis? That’s the challenge for all young guys.”
One of those “young guys” who has helped the Tide this year has been freshman corner Minkah Fitzpatrick, who hurt his knee Saturday.
Saban said Fitzpatrick is “day to day,” and that Tony Brown and Maurice Smith are competing to fill in at the “star” position.
