Alabama senior Reggie Ragland is a highly-rated inside linebacker, but that won’t stop him from trying another position at this month’s Senior Bowl.
AL.com‘s Michael Casagrande reports Ragland will be “getting some work” at outside linebacker in Mobile, Ala.
The Senior Bowl is a common place to show off skill sets that didn’t show up on film. Not that Ragland, a projected first-round pick, has much more to prove.
“He’s a guy who can really, really handle the run responsibilities inside and be a great leader,” ESPN’s Mel Kiper, Jr., said this week. “He’s a run-stuffer. He’s got good range. He’ll be [a] guy who works out very effectively.”
Last January, Ragland was projected to be a second-round prospect, so he decided to return to Tuscaloosa and improve his stock.
“I wanted to become a smarter player before I went to the NFL,” he told Casagrande this weekend. “That league is a grown man’s league. Those guys have families to feed and I don’t want to go in there half-stepping because I don’t want to mess up somebody’s family.”
