Alabama makes kind gesture to local family after father’s death
When Stephen Wigal of Satsuma, Ala., died in an automobile accident this June, he left behind his wife, five children and a big item on his bucket list.
He had always planned on taking his family to see an Alabama football game at Bryant-Denny Stadium, according to AL.com‘s Ben Thomas.
That dream seemed dashed until this month, when Alabama learned of the Wigals’ story.
The Crimson Tide reached out to Josiah and Seth Wigal — both players at Satsuma High — and invited them to visit this weekend as recruits. Their mother, Alyson, and the rest of the family will be in attendance as Alabama takes on Arkansas.
“It’s surreal,” Alyson told Thomas. “That is the only word I can think of to describe it. They know how much it meant to their dad and just the idea we are going to be there because of him and for him is amazing.”
