Alabama’s victory against Mississippi State produced some impressive television numbers.
As announced by ESPN on Tuesday, the game delivered a Nielsen total live audience of 7,031,000 viewers that peaked at 11,427,000 viewers from 10:15-10:30 p.m. ET. The seven million-plus figure makes the game cable’s most-watched Saturday college football contest in more than two years. It is also among ESPN’s 10 most-viewed regular-season Saturday games in more than 20 seasons.
For this season, ESPN noted, the game became the sixth most-watched contest across all networks, broadcast and cable, and second most-watched SEC game across all networks.
Viewers were treated to a thriller in Starkville. Alabama improved to 10-0 with a 31-24 victory against Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide host Mercer on Saturday, before taking part in a huge Iron Bowl on Nov. 25 at Auburn to decide the SEC West.
