How about a little late-night trolling among SEC football assistant coaches to spice things up in the month of June?
Emotions ran high on Tuesday night after former Kentucky QB commitment Mac Jones made an announcement that he would be switching his pledge to Alabama, and Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is the latest to jump in on the situation.
Jones’ change of heart from spawned a response from Darin Hinshaw, Kentucky’s co-offensive coordinator, in the form of a subtweet citing a quote about life choices that was attributed to James E. Faust. Kentucky defensive lineman Matt Elam also posted a tweet about being “with us or against us.”
Jones responded with a since-deleted message about respecting the Kentucky program, but noted that an “old man is acting like a 12 year old.”
With the mood set just right and tensions high, it seemed like a good time for one of the SEC’s most polarizing figures to jump into the discussion with a little bit of a troll job:
Who can blame Kiffin for having a little fun?
He’s celebrating adding a second four-star quarterback to his 2017 recruiting class, as Jones joins the nation’s No. 2-ranked dual-threat — Hawaiian QB Tua Tagovailoa — on the commitment list for the Crimson Tide.
