A little over a week after making his pledge to Alabama, Evan Neal has reopened his recruitment, according to 247Sports’ Josh Newberg.
The 15-year-old freshman from Okeechobee (Fla.) High School committed to the Crimson Tide on May 6, just one day after receiving an offer from the defending national champions. His father told 247Sports’ Eddie Neal that he was in favor of his son going to Alabama, but believed his son made his decision too early.
“What kid wouldn’t want to go to Alabama?” Evan’s father said, per Neal. “I’d love for my son to play for Alabama, but I feel he made his decision too early. He may have been caught up in the emotion of the offer. He’s only 15 years old and there’s a lot that can change between now and when he signs.”
Since committing to Alabama, the 6-foot-6, 353-pounder has spoken with coaches from Florida State, Florida, Clemson and Georgia, according to Newberg. Neal has yet to make any visits, but plans to check out some schools this summer.
Neal also holds offers from Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina and Southern Cal, among others.
