Preseason in most sports are full of cliches of guys putting on weight and muscle and arriving in the best shape of their life. These are the realities of the preseason hype train.
And we are in the midst of that preseason hype train as players go through summer workouts ahead of the start of training camps in less than a month.
If you are Alabama freshman quarterback Blake Barnett, you got a little swole. Barnett definitely lifted this summer, showing off his weight on Twitter without comment.

If that is Barnett’s weight now, that is quite a big increase. On Alabama’s roster page, he is listed at 200 pounds. That is quite a summer of putting on weight. Hopefully of muscle.
The Corona, Calif.-native redshirted last year as a freshman. He was the 21st best player in his recruiting class and the second-best pro-style quarterback according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Barnett is not likely to start yet. But he has a lot of talent.
And apparently more muscle to go with it.
