Several NFL draft experts think Alabama’s Derrick Henry is a second-round talent.
He doesn’t agree.
The junior running back, who officially announced intentions to forgo his senior season on Friday, said he won’t take his perceivably low grade to heart.
“It doesn’t mean I’m not going to be first round,” Henry told AL.com‘s Michael Casagrande. “I feel like what I do and how I test at the combine and work out. I feel like I will be first round. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
Henry smashed the SEC record books in 2015, topping the single-season records for rushing yards (2,219) and rushing touchdowns (28).
He follows a long line of Nick Saban running backs who declared early, including T.J. Yeldon (2015), Eddie Lacy (2013), Trent Richardson (2012) and Mark Ingram (2011).
