Malik Langham is one of Alabama's top defensive line targets.

Alabama recruiting question of the day: What to make of top target making last-minute visit to Auburn?

The early signing period has passed and Alabama is trying to obtain another No. 1 recruiting class come February. With recruiting ramping up, SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day every day of the week. You can ask him your questions on Twitter or on Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers here.

Malik Langham, a 4-star defensive end from Lee High School (Huntsville, Ala.), has been a priority target for Alabama since early December. Langham had a huge senior season which saw him rack up 104 tackles, 11 sacks, 23 quarterback hurries, 9 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries in 11 games.

Those eye-popping stats are what made other big programs get involved late in the process, with schools such as Florida, Notre Dame, Miami and Oregon all trying to make a late push. Now Auburn is trying to get into this recruitment late, and it’s an important school to keep track of because Langham grew up a Tigers fan.

He will take an official visit to Auburn this upcoming weekend. Langham told SEC Country after taking an official visit to Florida this past weekend that Alabama was still his leader. I’ve been told that the lead the Tide currently hold for Langham is quite large. Unless he’s completely blown away on this visit this upcoming weekend, I don’t think much is going to change. I expect Langham to sign with Alabama come Feb. 7.

“They are the defending national champs and they compete for a championship every year,” Langham said. “It’s in-state, so it’s close to home for me.”
