Senior pitcher Sydney Littlejohn registered a career-high 14 strikeouts while throwing a three-hitter as the University of Alabama softball won its final neutral-site game of the regular season with a 5-0 victory against Lipscomb on Wednesday.
It was Littlejohn’s sixth shutout of the season as the teams played in blustery conditions at the Florence Sportsplex in Florence, Ala.
Alabama took advantage of the wind while scoring two runs in the first inning, the first on a Bailey Hemphill sacrifice fly and the other on Peyton Grantham’s popup that fell in for an RBI double.
It rallied again in the sixth with Chandler Dare driving in one run and Marisa Runyon bringing in two more on a single.
Alabama improved to 33-6 overall, including a 14-1 mark by Littlejohn. Lipscomb is 27-11.
