Another Saturday has come and gone, and the College Football Playoff picture is becoming a little more clear. With just one more week remaining before the final rankings are released, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit has the same four teams in his Playoff prediction.
- Clemson (12-0, 8-0 ACC)
- Alabama (11-1, 7-1 SEC)
- Oklahoma (11-1, 8-1 Big 12)
- Michigan State (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten)
The next two teams are Iowa (12-0, 8-0 Big Ten) and Ohio State (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten).
The Spartans and Hawkeyes will face each other Saturday in the Big Ten Championship, and barring an upset of Clemson or Alabama, the field should be set. The Sooners should be safely in, as they don’t play Saturday.
If Herbstreit’s predictions come true, Alabama will find itself facing Oklahoma, which throttled the Crimson Tide in the 2014 Sugar Bowl. Of course, the Crimson Tide first have to take care of business in the SEC Championship game against Florida.
We’ll see how Herbstreit’s selections compare to the College Football Playoff committee’s rankings when they come out Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
