Alabama wide receiver target Seth Williams did his best Shaquille O’Neal impression Monday afternoon.
Williams, a four-star prospect from Paul W. Bryant High School (Tuscaloosa, Ala.), shattered a backboard and casually walked away from the mess after doing so.
The Crimson Tide were the first team to offer Williams a football scholarship. He told SEC Country last month that he had thoughts of ending his recruitment when that happened.
“Yeah I had thoughts about doing it then, but I just decided to wait to see what other opportunities would come my way,” Williams said at the time.
Even before the 6-foot-3, 202-pounder picked up the offer, the Tuscaloosa native had heard from members of his community about playing for Alabama. Almost everyone he knows is a fan of the Crimson Tide.
“They tell me all of the time that it’s a good school and they’re always going to win national championships,” Williams said. “I just tell them that I know they do. They’re always going to have an opportunity at winning a championship.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Alabama signed an elite prospect that damaged a hoop. Five-star linebacker signee Ben Davis bent a basket during a game last fall.
