Alabama won’t leave anything to chance when it comes to secrecy on the practice field.
Turns out, school officials have an agreement in place with an apartment complex near the Crimson Tide’s practice field to prevent residents from wandering outside and observing football practice.
The interesting nugget comes from a piece by ESPN’s Chris Low after an all-access visit to Tuscaloosa. Check out the details below:
Across the street from the Alabama practice fields are several apartment complexes, the upper units with porches high enough to provide a good view of the practice fields. Alabama has an agreement with one of the complexes that they will write into people’s leases that they not stand outside and watch football practice.
Anything for the sake of privacy in college football, right?
Knowing coach Nick Saban, this should come as no surprise. Coaches want to keep all their strategic advantages, and it’s not a shock that Alabama officials would want to guard against curious eyes that could compromise game-day preparations in any way.
Still, call this a quirk of living in the shadows of the beast that is Alabama football.
