Alabama tailback Derrick Henry has all but locked up the Heisman Trophy.
Henry was listed as a gigantic favorite by Bovada after the race was trimmed to three finalists. Bovada posted Henry at 1-12 odds to win the award this weekend in New York City. To put that into monetary perspective, a $100 bet on Henry would win just $108.33.
The junior running back capped his Heisman campaign with a 189-yard, one touchdown performance in the SEC Championship game against Florida. He finished the regular season with 1,986 yards and 23 touchdowns.
The next closest contender is Stanford halfback Christian McCaffrey at 6-1 odds. The sophomore accumulated 3,496 all-purpose yards, which broke Barry Sanders’ NCAA season record, and 13 touchdowns during his breakout campaign.
Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was the third finalist and he was listed at 22-1 odds to win the award. Watson threw for 3,512 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for an additional 887 yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the Tigers to an undefeated regular season and ACC championship.
