TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Two Alabama freshmen received weekly SEC honors on Monday for their performances in the Crimson Tide’s 49-10 win over Tennessee on Saturday.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts was named SEC Freshman of the Week while right tackle Jonah Williams was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.
Hurts ran for a game-high 132 yards and 3 touchdowns on 12 carries. He threw for 143 yards in the lopsided rivalry game.
Hurts became the first Tide quarterback to run for 100 yards in a game since 2001 when he ran for 146 yards during Alabama’s win over Ole Miss Sept. 17
Hurts now owns two of the top seven single-game rushing performances by a quarterback in Alabama history.
Williams posted a grade of 90 percent. He did not allow a quarterback hurry, a sack or commit a penalty. Williams helped clear a path for 594 yards of total offense.
