Alabama assistant coach Lane Kiffin is going to be back in a familiar place Thursday, and he might have the son of an NFL legend on his mind.
Kiffin is visiting Calabasas (Calif.) High School, according to InsideBamaRecruiting. Calabasas has three of the top 30 players in the state of California in the Class of 2017, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
One of those players is wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, Jr., who is committed to Nebraska (along with Calabasas quarterback Tristan Gebbia). Another is the No. 2-ranked player in the state, cornerback Darnay Holmes.
Kiffin obviously knows Southern California well after working as an assistant and head coach at Southern Cal, the school that Johnson’s famous father starred at. It is also notable that Alabama has a commitment from the No. 1 player in the state, running back Najee Harris, and landing the top two players in California would be an incredible recruiting coup, even for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.
