Football is on its way back, baseball is underway, and the weather is warming. Everyone is feeling good and being friendly with one another.
Well, almost everyone. Because the Iron Bowl rivalry doesn’t take a day off.
Former Auburn punter Daniel Carlson went on the Paul Finebaum Show on Tuesday while the Alabama football team was at the White House in honor of its national championship.
Carlson jabbed the Crimson Tide, saying, “They might be national champs, but we’re state champs.”
It’s didn’t take long for that to not go over well on the Alabama side of the rivalry.
Within minutes, Alabama linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton, likely from the White House (which makes it a even better burn), came back with this thunderous reply:
I guess the iron bowl is their national championship lol

Obviously, Hamilton is not discounting the best rivalry in the SEC and perhaps the college football world, but he knows that trophies conquer all. So, even despite Alabama losing the Iron Bowl and bragging rights until next year, the Crimson Tide still collected the biggest win of the season.
After the Iron Bolt, Auburn got smoked by Georgia in the SEC title game and then lost to UCF in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
All Alabama did was make the College Football Playoff, dominate Clemson, then win an overtime thriller over Georgia to lift the trophy. The championship rings surely will make it much easier to stomach the Tide’s Iron Bowl loss this year for Hamilton and the rest of his teammates.
