Alabama, South Carolina and Ole Miss have the best collection of recruiters in the nation, according to 247Sports’ director of recruiting Barton Simmons.
Simmons listed his top 10 recruiting staffs in the nation on Thursday with Alabama topping the nation, followed closely by South Carolina at No. 2 and Ole Miss at No. 3.
The Crimson Tide finished in the top spot in the 247Sports Composite national recruiting rankings for a sixth consecutive year with its Class of 2016, highlighted by the addition of Mike Locksley in March. So it’s no surprise that Simmons listed Nick Saban’s staff as the top unit in the nation.
While the consistent recruiting efforts of Hugh Freeze’s Ole Miss staff placed it near the top of the list, South Carolina earning the second spot is a testament to the staff that Will Muschamp assembled during his first months on the job, including poaching several coaches from Auburn.
LSU earned the No. 7 spot on the list, despite a shakeup on coach Les Miles’ staff that included losing Frank Wilson, Kevin Steele and Austin Thomas. Simmons cited the addition of position coaches Dameyune Craig and Ed Orgeron for the reason the Tigers still have one of the NCAA’s top 10 recruiting staffs.
