Remember when the Belk Bowl took to Twitter to humorously announce it wasn’t inviting Alabama to play in its game? Well, the folks behind the bowl’s social media accounts were at it again on Wednesday.
The Crimson Tide were never a serious threat to play in the Belk Bowl, as it was been pretty clear the top-ranked team in the nation would be playing for a chance at the national title in the College Football Playoff. But that hasn’t stopped the Belk Bowl from giving the Tide some good-natured ribbing early in bowl season.
On Wednesday, Reddit hosted an AMA with Gary Stokan, the president/CEO of the Peach Bowl. Alabama is playing Washington in Atlanta on Dec. 31 as part of the CFP. During the AMA, the Belk Bowl’s Reddit account asked Stokan if the Crimson Tide were “still mad” that they didn’t select them for their own game.
Stokan chose to respond to this question, noting his game is glad to have the nation’s top team in their bowl, but also complimenting the Belk Bowl on its Arkansas-Virginia Tech matchup.
It may not be Alabama, but perhaps the Belk Bowl will have a good game of its own. The Razorbacks and Hokies face off on Dec. 29.
