Alabama quarterback Blake Barnett missed practice this week because of an illness that caused him to be hospitalized Monday through Wednesday. On Friday, Barnett’s father, Lance Barnett, posted his thanks to the Crimson Tide training staff on Twitter.

Barnett gave updates on his condition through his accounts on Instagram and Snapchat, according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com. The posts included a Snapchat that said he had received multiple blood transfusions.
“He wasn’t feeling well,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said during his press conference on Wednesday. “Decided to admit him to the hospital for some tests. They found out what the issue is. He’s out. We’re very hopeful that he’ll be fine.”
Barnett was a 5-star recruit and listed as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2015. He was in competition to become the Crimson Tide’s starter during fall camp, but has not received any playing time this season.
