Already, Booger McFarland is looking ahead to next season.
On Tuesday, the ESPN analyst used Twitter to give his opinion that Alabama will be the preseason No. 1 next fall. (That’s no shock.) His choice for No. 2? He gives a nod to Ohio State, which finished 12-2 this season with a victory against USC in the Cotton Bowl.
Check out his complete thought:
Really enjoyed the college football season interacting with all of you , Bama will be preseason #1 followed by Ohio St IMO. Who will challenge them ? Remember it’s only a 4 team playoff and it’s the best drama in sports, Enjoy ur day

Ohio State should be strong, given its recent hauls on the recruiting trail. And the Buckeyes will reload with quarterback J.T. Barrett moving on. Still, there are a multiple choices for the No. 2 spot.
How about Georgia? After all, the Bulldogs came so close to winning the national championship Monday. If Georgia had beaten Alabama, we would be talking about a possible juggernaut in the making so much strong, young talent arriving in Athens. The Bulldogs won’t go anywhere soon, and they were ahead of schedule in winning an SEC title this season. Championships should be the expectation for Georgia moving forward.
Unfortunately, we must wait awhile until talk of preseason polls heats up in a significant way. But it’s fun to consider who’s positioned to make a run at the College Football Playoff next season.
