Trash talking is part of sports. Some guys are better at then others but just about everyone does it.
But not everyone apologizes for it, like Clemson’s Hunter Renfrow reportedly did during the national championship game.
Per Matt Fortuna of the All-American, Renfrow was on the receiving end of some trash talk from Alabama defensive back Tony Brown. After a catch in the national title, game Renfrow snapped back at Brown, asking why Brown couldn’t guard him.
Then Renfrow apologized to Brown for saying it.
“And then I immediately felt bad,” Renfrow told Fortuna. “And it took me like three plays to get up the courage to say: OK, I’m sorry. I should not have said that. Because if we were going to win, I wanted to win the right way and not be a jerk about it, you know?”
Renfrow ended up getting the last laugh in the game, as he hauled in the game winning touchdown pass to knock off the Crimson Tide.
